Amit Shah Announces Ahmedabad as Host of 2029 World Police & Fire Games

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Friday expressed deep pride and happiness over India being chosen to host the prestigious 2029 World Police and Fire Games. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shah stated that this milestone is a proud moment for every Indian and reflects the country’s rising prominence on the international sporting stage.

The minister credited India’s successful bid to host the event to the strong sports infrastructure built under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The World Police and Fire Games, a biennial event that brings together personnel from police, fire, and disaster response services to compete in over 50 sporting disciplines, will take place in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in 2029.

Shah highlighted that Ahmedabad’s selection as the host city reflects its growing reputation as a major hub for sports in India.
