Diplomatic Push: PM Modi Welcomes Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand to Boost Strategic Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a meeting with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand during her visit to New Delhi, expressing hope that her trip would inject fresh momentum into India–Canada relations.

Welcoming Minister Anand, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of her visit in advancing cooperation across a broad range of sectors, including trade, energy, technology, agriculture, and people-to-people exchanges.

“Canada is an important partner for India, and your visit provides an excellent opportunity to deepen our engagement in areas of mutual interest,” PM Modi said during the meeting.

The Prime Minister also recalled his own visit to Canada earlier this year during the G7 Summit held in June, where he had a “fruitful discussion” with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Their dialogue, he noted, focused on enhancing strategic cooperation and tackling global challenges together.

PM Modi extended his warm regards to Prime Minister Carney and said he looks forward to continuing their discussions during upcoming diplomatic engagements.

Minister Anand’s visit marks a significant step in re-engaging high-level political dialogue between the two countries, following recent efforts from both sides to reset and strengthen bilateral ties.
