High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha and Sri Lanka’s State Minister of Defence, Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, witnessed the final exercise at the 10th edition of India-Sri Lanka Joint Military Exercise MITRA SHAKTI at Army Training School, Maduru Oya, Sri Lanka.
Thereafter, Mr. Jha also interacted with the Indian contingent. The Indian contingent, comprising of 106 personnel, is being represented by a battalion of Rajputana rifles along with personnel from other arms and services. The Sri Lankan contingent is being represented by personnel from the Gajaba Regiment of the Sri Lankan Army.
The personnel from both sides engaged in multiple tactical drills in sub-conventional scenarios. The joint exercise enhances interoperability between the two forces as well as further strengthens already strong bonds. MITRA SHAKTI is an annual training event conducted alternatively in India and Sri Lanka, which was last held in Pune in November 2023. The 14-day exercise concludes on August 25th.
