India’s Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh Arrives in Cairo to Represent at Gaza Peace Summit
Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Kirti Vardhan Singh, has arrived in Cairo as India’s special representative to participate in the high-profile Gaza Peace Summit at Sharm El-Sheikh. The summit, set to take place in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city, aims to bring an end to the ongoing conflict in Gaza and chart a course toward lasting peace and regional stability.
In a message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh said, “Arrived in the historic city of Cairo as the special representative of Prime Minister @narendramodi to attend the Gaza Peace Summit at Sharm El-Sheikh.” His presence highlights India’s active diplomatic engagement in international efforts to promote peace in the Middle East.
PM Modi Welcomes Progress on Peace Plan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his support for recent developments tied to the peace process between Israel and Hamas. On Thursday, PM Modi welcomed the agreement reached on the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan. Posting on his official X account, Modi stated: “We welcome the agreement on the first phase of President Trump’s peace plan. This is also a reflection of the strong leadership of PM Netanyahu. We hope the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza will bring respite to them and pave the way for lasting peace.”
This endorsement underscores India’s backing of diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving the protracted conflict and alleviating humanitarian suffering in the region.
Summit to Finalize Agreement on Gaza Conflict
According to an official statement from the Egyptian Presidency, the summit on Monday will be co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump. The gathering will bring together leaders from more than 20 countries to finalize a peace agreement designed to end hostilities in Gaza.
The Egyptian Presidency emphasized that the summit aims not only to cease the ongoing violence but also to promote long-term peace efforts, enhance humanitarian assistance, and restore stability and security across the region.
Global Leaders Join the Peace Effort
In addition to the participating heads of state, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will also attend the summit. His office confirmed that the Secretary-General is traveling to Egypt to contribute to the peace talks and is expected to return to UN Headquarters shortly after the event.
This convergence of international leaders reflects the global community’s shared commitment to resolving one of the most enduring and complex conflicts in the Middle East.
