Singapore PM Lawrence Wong Meets President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to Celebrate 60 Years of India-Singapore Relations
Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong is on a three-day official visit to India, during which he met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday to commemorate 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Earlier, PM Wong held talks with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, followed by a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House. The two leaders conducted wide-ranging discussions, jointly inaugurated Phase II of the JN Port PSA Mumbai Terminal (BMCT), and witnessed the signing of several MoUs aimed at strengthening India-Singapore cooperation.
During his visit, PM Wong also met with key Indian officials, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Health Minister and BJP President JP Nadda, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Minister Pradhan noted that their discussions focused on deepening collaboration in areas such as education, skills training, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Both sides agreed to work together on teacher training, expanding research initiatives, enhancing vocational training, and promoting student exchanges to foster global exposure in higher education.
In a post on social media platform X, PM Wong shared a video highlighting the launch of the Roadmap for the Singapore-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which outlines joint efforts in areas including advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, sustainability, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and space.
Accompanied by his wife and a senior delegation of Cabinet ministers and officials, this marks PM Wong’s first official visit to India since assuming office.
