The Egyptian Foreign Minister invites India to send a technical delegation to his country to discuss increasing trade between the two countries in strategic commodities

Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, met with Jagat Prakash Nadda, Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers and Leader of India's Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, on Thursday in New Delhi.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister traveled to the Indian capital, New Delhi, yesterday to hold the first round of the strategic dialogue between the two countries at the foreign ministers' level. He will also hold bilateral meetings with senior Indian government officials, as well as heads of major Indian companies, as part of strengthening bilateral relations and the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Minister reviewed the most prominent outcomes of the strategic partnership agreement between Egypt and India and cooperation in trade in strategic commodities required to achieve food security with the aim of containing the repercussions of the global food crisis. He stressed the importance of coordination to explore the possibility of achieving integration between the two countries in strategic commodities.

He also highlighted Egypt's efforts to increase domestic fertilizer production by establishing new factories to produce various types of fertilizers, contributing to enhancing food security in Egypt and friendly countries. This could create additional opportunities for trade between the two countries.

He also emphasized the importance of leveraging the strategic partnership between Egypt and India to achieve food security for both countries. This can be achieved by studying the possibility of reaching understandings that would lead to preferential deals based on a price equation agreed upon between the two countries to exchange specific quantities of Egyptian fertilizers for specific quantities of Indian agricultural products.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Foreign Minister invited the Indian side to send a technical delegation to Egypt, including representatives from various relevant ministries and government agencies, to discuss with relevant Egyptian authorities ways to enhance food security for both countries through increased trade in strategic commodities.
