US, Maldives, Nepal Extend Warm Greetings to India on 79th Independence Day
As India celebrated its 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and nationwide celebrations, warm greetings and congratulatory messages poured in from across the globe. Among the earliest to extend their wishes were India’s close partners — the United States, Maldives, and Nepal — each reaffirming their strong bilateral ties and shared values with India.
United States: A Trusted Strategic Partner
In an official statement, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken extended best wishes to the Indian people on behalf of the United States, calling the U.S.-India relationship “consequential and far-reaching.”
“As India celebrates 79 years of independence, we recognize the strong partnership between our nations, built on democratic values and a shared vision for a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific,” the statement read.
Blinken highlighted the expanding cooperation between the two countries across technology, defence, climate, and space, and emphasized the U.S. commitment to deepening this partnership further in the years ahead.
Maldives Reaffirms Regional Friendship
Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu also offered his greetings, posting on X (formerly Twitter):
“Heartfelt congratulations to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the people of India on their 79th Independence Day. Wishing continued peace and prosperity for our close neighbour.”
The message comes after Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to Male in July 2025, during which India and the Maldives commemorated 60 years of diplomatic ties. The visit saw renewed cooperation, with the signing of six MoUs and the announcement of ₹4,850 crore in Indian credit assistance.
Nepal Extends Warm Wishes
Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ conveyed his best wishes to India, emphasizing the strong and historic relations between the two neighbours.
“Warm greetings to Prime Minister Modi and the people of India on their Independence Day. May India continue to achieve greater heights in development and peace.”
India and Nepal enjoy an open-border relationship and collaborate on areas including energy, infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges.
A Message of Friendship and Shared Progress
The greetings from the U.S., Maldives, and Nepal reflect India’s growing diplomatic presence and its importance as a partner in both regional and global affairs. As India looks toward its centenary of independence in 2047, these messages underscore international confidence in India’s rise as a democratic and developmental powerhouse.
