India and Cyprus Reinforce Democratic Partnership as Cypriot Parliamentary Delegation Meets President Murmu
A high-level parliamentary delegation from Cyprus, led by H.E. Ms Annita Demetriou, President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, called on President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The meeting highlighted the deep-rooted and growing cooperation between the two democratic nations.
Welcoming Ms. Demetriou and her delegation, President Murmu noted that India and Cyprus share a close and trusted partnership, strengthened by common democratic values, robust parliamentary traditions, and long-standing political goodwill. She emphasised that India places high importance on its relationship with Cyprus—one founded on mutual respect, shared strategic outlook, and a commitment to global peace and stability.
The discussions reflected the warmth and depth of bilateral ties, with both sides reaffirming their interest in expanding cooperation across diverse areas, including political engagement, multilateral coordination, economic opportunities, and people-to-people connections.
President Murmu conveyed that India looks forward to further strengthening parliamentary exchanges and collaborative initiatives that promote democratic governance and institutional cooperation. She also commended Cyprus for its active engagement in fostering ties with India and welcomed continued dialogue at multiple levels.
The visit of the Cypriot parliamentary delegation is expected to give fresh momentum to bilateral relations as both countries explore new avenues for partnership anchored in shared values and international cooperation.
