India Brings Its Silk Heritage to Egypt, Opening New Avenues for Trade
The Embassy of India in Egypt, in association with, the Indian Silk Export Promotion Council (ISEPC), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, is organizing a Two-Day Silk Exhibition-cum-Buyer Seller Meet (BSM) on 24-25 August 2026 in Cairo.
The initiative seeks to strengthen commercial engagement between stakeholders from Indian silk and textile handicraft industry and Egyptian buyers and industry stakeholders, while providing a platform to explore new opportunities for expanding bilateral trade in silk and allied products.
The two-day exhibition and Buyer Seller Meet will provide Egyptian importers, wholesalers, retailers, buying houses, designers, design institutions and other industry stakeholders an opportunity to discover the craftsmanship, diversity, quality and contemporary design capabilities of India’s silk and textile handicrafts sector.
The participating Indian exhibitors will showcase a wide range of products, including silk and textile handicrafts, silk carpets, silk scarves and stoles, and other silk and allied silk products. The exhibition will also provide opportunities for direct interaction between Indian exporters and Egyptian businesses, facilitating business enquiries, partnerships and potential commercial tie-ups.
The Buyer Seller Meet is expected to provide a valuable platform for Egyptian buyers to engage directly with Indian manufacturers and exporters, understand their product offerings and capabilities, and explore possibilities for sourcing and long-term business cooperation.
The Embassy of India in Cairo invites relevant stakeholders from the Egyptian business and trade community, including members of Egyptian trade bodies, chambers of commerce, business associations, importers, wholesalers, retailers, buying houses, designers and design institutions, to attend the Silk Exhibition-cum-Buyer Seller Meet and explore opportunities for establishing commercial linkages with Indian companies.
The event is expected to contribute to strengthening India-Egypt trade and economic cooperation, particularly in the handicrafts, silk and textile sectors, while creating new avenues for market access, business partnerships and collaboration between enterprises from the two countries.
The Embassy of India in Cairo, looks forward to welcoming Egyptian trade bodies, chambers of commerce, business associations and members of the business community to the event and to facilitating meaningful business-to-business engagements and stronger India-Egypt commercial partnerships in the silk and handicrafts sector.
