PM Modi, Croatian President Milanović Strengthen Bilateral Ties in Zagreb
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Croatian President Zoran Milanović in Zagreb on Wednesday, engaging in wide-ranging discussions to strengthen India–Croatia bilateral relations. Their talks focused on expanding cooperation in trade and commerce, cultural exchange, defence collaboration, and technological innovation.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Modi shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Met Zoran Milanović, the President of Croatia. Had extensive discussions on the full range of India-Croatia friendship, including ways to boost linkages of commerce and culture.”
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the close and friendly ties between India and Croatia, grounded in shared democratic values, respect for the rule of law, and a common vision for global peace and stability.
Both leaders welcomed the expanding scope of bilateral cooperation, particularly in emerging sectors such as defence, start-ups, sports, and innovation. Prime Minister Modi also extended his appreciation to President Milanović for Croatia’s steadfast support in India’s fight against terrorism, underscoring the shared commitment to global security.
The leaders acknowledged the deep-rooted cultural connections between India and Croatia, tracing back centuries.
They also exchanged views on regional and global developments and noted that the growing India-EU strategic partnership could further enhance India-Croatia relations.
“The two leaders agreed to work together to unlock the full potential of India-Croatia ties,” the MEA said.
