Indian Company Wins Over $40 Million Contract to Develop Egypt’s Electricity Grid

Indian companies have taken a significant step in strengthening their presence in the Egyptian market, with Bajel Projects Limited, a subsidiary of the Bajaj Group, winning a contract worth over $40 million to implement part of a strategic project to develop Egypt's electricity transmission network.

The agreement was signed in Cairo between the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and Bajel Projects for the implementation of the first and fifth sections of a 500-kilovolt overhead transmission line project. This project is part of Egypt's plan to modernize its energy infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of the national grid to meet the growing demand for electricity.

The Indian Ambassador to Egypt, Suresh K. Reddy, welcomed the signing of the agreement, emphasizing that the contract reflects the increasing confidence Egypt places in Indian companies and demonstrates the reputation Indian products and services have earned in global markets.

He noted that Bagel is part of the Bajaj Group, one of India's largest industrial groups, with a business volume of approximately US$40 billion and extensive experience in executing major infrastructure projects both within India and internationally.

The agreement was signed by Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and CEO of Bagel Projects, and Engineer Mona Rizk, Chairperson of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, reflecting the strength of the growing economic partnership between India and Egypt.

The project is classified as a mega-project and aims to enhance the capacity, efficiency, and reliability of Egypt's electricity transmission network, supporting the Egyptian government's industrial and economic development plans.

Rajesh Ganesh stated that winning this project represents a significant milestone for the company, adding that awarding one of the largest 500 kV transmission line projects in the Middle East and North Africa region to an Indian company underscores international confidence in Indian engineering capabilities and strengthens the company's position in global markets.

He added that the project represents a new step in the company's international expansion strategy and strengthens its presence in the Middle East and North Africa region, given the growing demand for energy infrastructure projects.

This contract comes at a time when economic cooperation between India and Egypt is witnessing significant expansion in the areas of infrastructure, energy, and investment, with Indian companies showing increasing interest in participating in major national projects being implemented by Egypt. This reflects the depth of the economic relations between the two countries and their promising prospects.
