President Tô Lâm commenced his visit with a ceremonial reception upon arrival in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, where he was received by Governor of Bihar, Lt. Gen. Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd.), and Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary at the airport.
In a significant gesture highlighting civilizational linkages, the Vietnamese President also visited the Mahabodhi Temple, where he offered prayers. The visit to Bodh Gaya – one of the most sacred sites in Buddhism – underscores the deep-rooted spiritual and cultural ties between India and Vietnam, built on centuries of shared Buddhist heritage and people-to-people connections.
